From deadlock and bloodshed to unilateral
disengagement: Speech by the director of

Israel is committed to
President Bush's vision of peace in the
Middle East. In the absence of any real
prospect for a negotiated solution, Israeli
leaders constantly searching for a way out
of the current deadlock. Major-General
(ret.) Giora Eiland, recently assigned to
head Israel's National Security Council, has
tried to outline a way to move from ongoing
bloodshed toward unilateral disengagement.
