I
am so happy to be here this evening with so many dedicated
friends and defenders of Israel. I am also happy to be here
again with my good friend Dr. Pat Robertson. We are so
privileged to have you here. There is no truer friend of
Israel. And thank you to all the members of the host
committee of this great event.
The Evangelical community is a bedrock of support for Israel
in the United States. You have been a strong and courageous
voice for Israel even during times when it was not so
popular. You have always taken decisions based on faith,
morality, truth and decency to speak up on our behalf. You
have also expressed your support in such tangible ways,
through visiting Israel and promoting Israeli causes as well
as purchasing Israeli products. By doing so you have both
helped our economy at a time when it has been affected by
terror and have shown our brave population that we are not
alone. G-d said to Abraham: "I will bless those that bless
you". You are surely so deserving of G-ds blessing.
We in Israel are looking ahead toward a difficult and
painful period. We strongly desire peace, so much so that
the Prime Minister has decided to disengage from Gaza,
trusting that this will facilitate a more peaceful future
and will strengthen Israel's security, militarily and
politically. We empathize fully with the pain this decision
brings to Jewish inhabitants who will have to leave their
homes and the Government of Israel will do everything it can
to help with their difficult transition.
The Evangelical community has been with us through good
times and bad. I know you will be with us now. Your support
has helped see us through dark days. I sincerely hope you
will stand with us again as we take these difficult steps
for peace and security for Israel.
- Isaiah 62:6 - "I have posted watchmen on your walls, Oh
Jerusalem; they will never be silent day or night."
Jerusalem's watchmen are you, your congregants, and all of
those who stand with you in supporting Israel. Thank you and
God bless you.
