Martin
Peled-Flax
Minister-Counselor for Domestic Political Affairs
Martin
Peled-Flax was born in New York in 1958. A graduate
of Touro College (B.A.) and the Jewish Theological
Seminary of America (M.A. and Rabbinic Ordination)
he was also a "Lady Davis Research Fellow"
at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (1982-83). From
1984-86 he was on active duty with the Israel Defense
Forces.
Martin
Peled-Flax joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
of the State of Israel in November, 1986. He subsequently
served as Consul for Information at the Consulate
General of Israel in Houston, TX (1989 - 94) and Ambassador
of Israel to the Republic of Belarus (1998-2002).
Mr. Peled-Flax has also been a member of Israel's
delegation to the United Nations General Assembly
on two occasions (1987 &1997).
At
the Ministry he served in the Division for International
Organizations and in the Division for Information.
Upon
his return to Israel from Belarus in September, 2002,
he assumed the portfolio of "Combating Anti-Semitism"
and "Holocaust Remembrance" at the Ministry.
In
March 2005 he was appointed Director of the Department
for anti-Semitism & Holocaust Issues at the Ministry.
In
August 2005, Mr. Peled-Flax was posted to the Embassy
of Israel in Washington as Minister - Counselor for
Domestic Political Affairs.
Martin
Peled-Flax holds the permanent rank of Minister -
Counselor in the Foreign Service of the State of Israel.
